Ballet Classes |

Ballet is considered to be one of the most beautiful and graceful of all the dance styles. If you've ever seen a live ballet on stage, you will be aware of a
ballerina's amazing ability to transport an entire audience into
another world through grace and elegance.
As an accredited ISTD school, Dance Dynamix prides itself in being able to offer our pupils the opportunity to learn the techniques, discipline, rhythm, control and balance required to become an accomplished ballet dancer. Ballet is an excellent way to build confidence in children as they work through the recognised syllabus of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing.
Throughout our ballet classes, pupils will work towards attaining the level of ability required to take recognised ISTD Standard and Grade exams.
During Standard
exams, pupils will perform together with the rest of their class in
group dances and performances. The examiner will observe their
performance, and issue individual pupil gradings. Standard
exams are a great way to introduce pupils to ISTD exams, and are very
well suited to children who may perform better in a group performance. During Standard exams, it is permissible to have the class teacher present.
Pupils taking Grade exams will
be marked in a more critical manner, where more attention being made to
the candidate's technique, posture and style.

Pre-Primary Ballet
| | Our Pre-Primary Ballet class is the first of our ballet series, and starts teaching children basic techniques and ballet positions. We cover positions such as "First Position" & Plie, and concentrate on developing our pupil's sense of rhythm. There is a lot of fun involved with this class, with pupils taking part in mimes and charactor impersonations. Pupils will also begin preparation for their first ISTD exam - the Pre-Primary Examination. This is a Standard exam, where all the pupils in this class will perform together once we feel they are ready.

Pointe Work Class
| | Our Pointe Work Class introduces pupils to Pointe work. We begin with Pointe exercises with the support of the Ballet Barre, which helps to improve stamina and strength in the ankle muscles. Once enough strength has been built up, we begin to leave the Ballet Barre in order to perform Pointe work, unassisted in the centre of the room.
This class begins preparing pupils for the Pointe work section of the ISTD Grade 6
exam. It does not however cover the remainder of the Grade 6 syllabus.
Pupils wishing to enroll in our Pointe Work class, should have successfully completed at least ISTD Grade 4 in Ballet and should have sufficiently strong ankles.
Pointe work is a physically intensive ballet position, requiring suitable strength and stamina. We therefore reserve the right to refuse enrollment in this class, if we do not feel prospective pupils are at the required grade of ability and physical fitness.
